Living is not always easy. Finding truth is equally difficult. Your friends and family are there in the midst of your joy and irritation, but may not provide all the support you need. A listening companion is an objective partner dedicated to your personal, spiritual growth.

What is a spiritual companion?

A spiritual companion is a person that intuitively, prayerfully and skillfully provides active presence for another person. The relationship is formed specifically for the benefit of the person seeking support. Mary Hogan has a wealth of experience in the art of being fully present for those she companions. She is a person who is a life-long seeker of personal spiritual awareness, walking the walk with humility and strength. Added to that is a sprinkle of Irish joy and laughter.

  • Mary Hogan is a gifted intuitive listener and visionary

“Mary Hogan is a gifted intuitive listener and visionary. She has mastered the skill of working with individuals and groups as they process the messiness and inspirations that bring about new and better ways of being. Her depth of personal experience working in all sectors of business undergirds her ability to quickly interpret what her clients are communicating and needing.”

    - Blaine Bontempo

  • The leadership development training that Mary gave to our parish was invaluable!

"Mary walked with us step by step as we established Spiritual Leadership Teams for the first time in many years.  Her focus, candidness, leadership, spirituality, and humor helped our parishioners accomplish great things in a relatively short period of time.  This would not have been possible without Mary's assistance!"

    - Mark Cabutti

  • Mary is warm, compassionate, knowledgeable, and has a delightful sense of humor.

“After moving to Utah from another state, I needed to find a spiritual director. Eventually, I found Mary Hogan through my pastor. When we first spoke, Mary asked what I would like to talk about. I said, “God. I would like to talk about God.” What I really meant to say was I wanted someone with whom to share my continuing desire to deepen my relationship with God, through prayer, other spiritual practices, and also help to understand my personal experiences of God.

That was well over a year ago. Right from the beginning, I thought Mary was a good fit for me. She is warm, compassionate, knowledgeable, and has a delightful sense of humor. Mary listens intently to what I have to say. Often she responds by asking me a challenging question. This encourages me to reflect more deeply on what I have shared. At every monthly session, we begin with silent prayer. I love that.”

Mary is a consummate professional who holds space for others' growth and understanding in a safe, yet playful container. “

Susan Pannier-Cass, BSW Spiritual Director and Interfaith Minister

  • Mary gently but firmly guided the attendees towards closer relationships with God

“I had a great pleasure of attending Mary’s retreat “Be Still and Know That I Am God”, which was, in a way, a condensed version of spiritual direction. The purpose of the retreat was to achieve personal intimacy with the Divine through a series of guided meditations, holy listening & sharing, and creative experiences. In the course of several sessions, Mary gently but firmly guided the attendees towards closer relationships with God; she provided tools to help successfully sort through our experiences with Christ. Mary taught us how to use contemplative meditation and our natural creativity to find our unique God Language. Being a part of Mary’s retreat helped me develop a deeper connection with the Divine and pay better attention to messages sent by God; my prayer life has also improved. I am looking forward to attending more retreats facilitated by Mary.”
